Lumbrokinase is a plasmin extracted from intestines and the bodily fluids of Lumbricus rubellus, more commonly called the red worm.
Dr. Hisashi Mihara, professor emeritus of Miyazaki Medical College, discovered how to successfully extract plasmin from Lumbricus rubellus. He named the extracted Lumbrokinase after the scientific name of the earthworm. Dr. Mihara presented his study at the Congress of the International Society on Thrombosis and Hemostasis in Stockholm in 1983
Lumbrokinase is the only plasmin that directly dissolves fibrin-the cause of thrombus. Without harming the veins, Lumbrokinase is effective in treating diseases caused by thrombus such as myocardial infarction, diabetes, cerebral infarction, heart disease and high blood pressure. It is the first thrombolytic enzyme in the world.
The Lumbrokinase-containing L-R powder is the main ingredient in L-R Zyme.
